This week:
1. The Reese Video
2. Certainly Moving but not shaking!
3. Building Affiliate Sites - Miniseries Part XXV
4. Getting Re included in Google
5. Keyword Elite?
6. Other Stuff
Hi again.
This week I have continued with the mini-series. I wanted to go on and talk about more traffic methods, but from the feedback I have received over the last instalment, I decided that many of you want an exact plan to follow, so that is what I have done.
There is also some helpful guidelines on how to get a banned site relisted and my thoughts on some other stuff that is in the news.
—————————————————
1. The Reese Video
—————————————————
Last week I mentioned the $500,000+ video by John Reese. This video showed proof of how John took a new Adsense business from zero to over half a million dollars inside one year. Last week I did not have the URL of the video at hand, but thankfully a number of subscribers forwarded the email to me, so if you have not seen it yet, sit back and get motivated:
OK, feeling motivated? I was when I watched the video, so I signed up for the Reese Report. This publication is sent physically every month, but also has a download URL where you can download each issue as it is released (in case you dont want to wait).
There is no doubting the credentials of John Reese (even if you had not seen this video, you should heard of him because of his one million dollar sales day not so long ago). I bet your question is whether the Reese Report is value for money, since it isn’t cheap?
If you are completely new to internet marketing and don’t even know how to build a web site, then my answer would be no. You should have some experience of site building to make full use of the report.
If you are the sort of person who reads something, then thinks “what a great idea”, and then does nothing about it, the Reese Report is certainly not for you. You see, when I read the first issue of the Reese report, I had a total of 4 light bulbs switch on in my head. 4 great ideas from one newsletter, even though I would class myself as quite experienced at internet marketing. These 4 ideas ranged from things I can do to my existing sites to improve conversions, to ideas for new sites and styles of sites. The big problem is going to be acting on the ideas. I cannot go into too much information on what is in the Reese report because you have to “sign” a confidentiality clause when you sign up, but what I can say is that I am going to be a subscriber for a very long time if what I read so far is typical of his report.
The report subscriber forum is a great place to meet and discuss issues with other Reese Report subscribers, and it was great to see a few old friends in there.
What I can tell you is that I highly recommend this report if you can afford it, and if you are prepared to work on your business. John has made available a back issue of the Reese Report so you can see for yourself what sorts of information is covered. I highly recommend that you download it, read, then watch the videos (every month John provides videos to accompany the report that you can just sit back and enjoy). I also recommend you go out and buy a few highlighter pens, or sticky notes, whatever your preferred method of note taking.
You can download the f.re.e issue of the Reese Report.

2. Certainly Moving but not shaking!
—————————————————
Checking my logs this week, I noticed a lot of traffic to my search engine site from Alexa.
Look at number 6 on the moving down list ;o(
That’s my old search engine site dropping off the Alexa radar. As you know if you have read the last couple of newsletters, I have put a permanent redirect on my old search engine site, so that it can no longer get visitors. Hopefully my new site will start to move and shake on the Moving Up list as the traffic from the old site is now being automatically redirected to the new site. Interesting to watch it all happen.

3. Building Affiliate Sites - Miniseries Part XXV
—————————————————
If you have been following this course so far, you will have:
a) identified your niche and checked for profitability
b) carried out your keyword research at Wordtracker.
c) sent yourself your keyword research from Wordtracker.
d) selected several phrases to use as main page keywords.
e) selected suitable phrases to be used for article pages.
f) learnt how to theme pages. You should use this information to begin collecting themed keywords for your planned pages.
g) seen how main pages differ from article pages, and understood how these differences dictate how the pages are created.
h) seen how selling differs from pre-selling, and learnt one way to sketch out a blueprint of your pre-selling content.
i) looked at a top selling sales page, and dissected out the various pre-selling techniques highlighted by the “pre-selling blueprint questions”.
j) looked at two models for building main sales pages.
k) looked at how to write articles, and learnt a simple “Value Test” you can use to decide if your article is good enough.
l) Found a suitable web host, domain name and web editor.
m) Looked at links, and understand that some links will server you better than others.
n) Seen how Page Rank can be passed onto other pages, and also that the Google toolbar is not accurate.
o) Seen that links in to a page are a vote for that page, and that the link text used on incoming links, gives your page some reputation for that term. The more incoming links with that term, the higher the reputation.
p) Seen how tracking your visitors can give you a lot of useful information, and chosen a stats script for your own site (if your host does not provide one).
q) Seen how to create a useful links page that can act as a resource for your visitors, and looked at one way to automate this page.
r) Seen that putting Adsense ads on all pages is not usually the best strategy for maximum profits.
s) Seen how owning your own products can be fun, as well as help avoid the thin affiliate label. Most of all, it can be very lucrative.
t) Seen how to use the nofollow tag to block Search engines from certain pages, as well as the importance of getting quality links to your pages (both internal and homepage).
u) Seen how to add content to your site for maximum impact, and looked at a tool that can do this for you.
v) Seen how article distribution can increase backlinks, link reputation and PR of your web pages, thereby increasing rankings.
w) Seen how directory submissions can help our rankings.
x) Seen how autoresponders and newsletters can give you repeated exposure to your visitors.
If you missed any of these newsletters, you can read them online at my blog:
http://ez-search-engine-optimization.com/blog/
This mini course begins in issue #89 and continues to the latest post in the blog.
Last time we looked at Autoresponders (and newsletters) as a great way to keep in contact with your visitors. After all, someone may only go to your site once, but if they sign up for your autoresponder or newsletter, you can bring them back time and time again with the great information and pre-sell you provide. Its like having them bookmark your site, but is actually far more valuable than a bookmark, since many people never return to their bookmarks.
My tool of choice for autoresponders and newsletters is Aweber (read the last miniseries section for reasons why):
You have all heard of PLR articles haven’t you? Well, I don’t like them as sources of content for a website since you share that content with so many other people, and they require a lot of work to get them unique enough. I have heard a good point from a friend who uses them though. He says that these PLR articles are good because he does not have to do the research on an unkown niche. He uses the PLR article as the research, and re-write the article based on that research. It takes time, but he does make a success of using his sites in this manner (and he has a full time job as well).
OK, my point about mentioning PLR articles. As I said, I don’t use them for site content because it is just too much work for me. However, one area that they can provide excellent value is in setting up a newsletter or autoresponder course.
Simply setup an autoresponder with 8 - 10 of these PLR articles related to your site, and insert a sign up form on your site. You can set up each email with an introduction, the guest article “PLR article”, plus a pre-selling closing paragraph leading your readers to your own site, or an affiliate site.
Some of the PLR article sites are better than others for this.
In looking for PLR article sites to join, I highly recommend looking for sites that offer articles highly related to your own niche site, or at least a site you want to build.
I have been asked quite a few times to elaborate on the process for using some of the content available from these membership sites, so, for those who have been paralysed by information overload, but want to create a site, and have a little money to invest here is a great method that works well for me.
1. Sign up for the following:
Niche Health Products and Niche Health Articles.
2. Grab an eBook from Niche Health Products. Edit it and insert some new information. Compile it into a PDF ebook (I have talked previously about the best tools for this).
3. Get a subscription to Aweber.
4. Create a single sales page website using the methods described earlier in this miniseries.
5. Setup an autoresponder at Aweber using the articles provided at Niche Health Products for that topic.
6. Insert the autoresponder sign up form on your sales page.
7. Sign up with Clickbank to sell your eBook (and also allows you to get affiliates for the eBook).
8. Go over to Niche Health Articles and grab the additional articles made available there. Compile these articles into a report that you can give away as a bonus for subscribers to your autoresponder (or if you want to run a newsletter, use it as a bonus for that).
9. Create a popup that offers the fr.ee report in return for subscribing to your autoresponder course. This can be setup so the visitor only has to click a link to subscribe), and they will be directed to the report download page after confirming their subscription (use double opt-in). Some popups can beat the popup blockers built into firewalls, web browsers and anti-virus software, and despite annoying a lot of people, if the offer is targeted, they do work incredibly well.
10. Use some more of the articles as research to write 20 of your own articles on the subject.
11. Submit one article a week to article directories, until all 20 have been submitted.
12. While you are going through this submission process, look for sites related to your own, and contact them with details of your affiliate program and a download URL where they can get a complimentary copy of your eBook. Ask them if they would like to make commissions by promoting your eBook.
13. Submit your site to directories.
That is all there is to creating a site that gets traffic and makes sales of your own product.
Obviously you want to continue to market your site with more article submissions, and even press releases if appropriate.

4. Getting Re included in Google
—————————————————
OK, you have been a bad boy (or girl). Your site used dodgy techniques, or had duplicate content (or poor content), and Google finally booted you out. What can you do?
Well Matt Cutts has answered that on his blog.
Essentially you need to clean up your site, and then submit it for re inclusion. A word of warning though, make sure it is squeaky clean before you do, or you may have real problems getting it back into the big G.
As I mentioned when I was moving my own site, I found some old pages (years old) that had some keywords in bold, inside an H1 tag. Obviously this is only for the search engines, since it cannot be seen by a human, so it had to be removed. I advise you do checks on all pages before resubmitting.
Look out for obvious keyword spamming, dodgy techniques you used to use, and fix them.
Good luck!

5. Keyword Elite?
—————————————————
With the release of Keyword Elite in the last week, a lot of subscribers have asked my opinion on it.
My answer is fairly simple. If you do PPC advertising, this tool is great. However, if you are looking for natural search engine rankings only, I don’t think you can do better than a subscription to Wordtracker, and a copy of Keyword Results Analyzer. Some of the features of Keyword Elite are aimed specifically at PPC users (such as increasing keyword lists by inserting words at the start or end of every phrase). Sure, this can double, triple or quadruple your keyword counts very quickly, but unless you are into PPC or spamming the SEs with auto-generated pages built from keyword lists, I think these extra large keyword lists are useless. There is no point having keywords in your list that nobody searches for, and even less point in optimising a gazillion pages for such similar keywords.
For PPCers, you might find it useful.
For those looking to build content sites that rank well naturally, I recommend the laser guided approach of Wordtracker and Keyword Results Analyzer.
Incidentally, I have been thinking of putting together a demo version of KRA if there is a request for it? Let me know.
