This week:

1. Three More Uses of Ezine Articles

2. An Idea for Site Content

3. Other Stuff

Hi again.

I am sure you have heard of ezinearticles.com, but have you used it? If so, what have you used it for? For most webmasters, Ezine Articles is a place where they can submit articles to get backlinks to their website.

The fact is, submitting articles is one of the best ways to get one-way, inbound links to a website. High quality articles get picked up by other webmasters and posted on their sites, or sent out as guest articles in their newsletters. This can lead to a lot of publicity for your site, as well as valuable one-way links.

However, the inbound-link value of this site (and others like it) is only the tip of the iceberg. Today, I’d like to look at 3 other reasons I visit Ezine Articles.

—————————————————
1. Three More Uses of Ezine Articles
—————————————————

1. Ezine Articles for Researching Niches

You want to build a new site, but you are having difficulties coming up with ideas for the niche. I know this is a common problem from the emails I get.

Not only do you need to find a site that has good keywords to build a site around, but you also need to find a niche that has the potential to be pr0fitable.

Why not tap into the minds of thousands of other webmasters, and use their research to help in your decisions? Ezine Articles to the rescue. Think about it. If webmasters are writing articles about certain topics, most of those topics will be profitable.

Generally you’ll two types of articles at Ezine Articles. Firstly, articles written to promote affiliate/adsense sites, and secondly, articles written to promote merchant sites.

The ones you are interested in are the former. Articles written to promote affiliate sites.

Got have a look at the homepage at Ezine Articles:

http://ezinearticles.com

There must be 200 - 300 categories on the homepage. Look through them. Anything take your fancy?

Scroll down the page. Below the categories you’ll find a long list of recently published articles. This list is updated daily, so I suspect that what you see will be different to what I see now, but this list alone is enough to give you ideas on niche topics.

Here are just a few potential niche ideas I get when looking at the article lists:

Flags
Marriage/Weddings
Penny stocks
Lie detectors
Positive thinking
Boats/boat cleaning products
Time management
Telepathy
Forex Trading
Hair loss in women
iPods
Podcasting

You would obviously need to go and do some checks on these to decide on a niche topic, but you should be able to see the value of this approach to researching niche ideas. I would never have thought of some of those ideas in a million years!

The next step would be to search for affiliate programs, check out Adsense opportunities, do some keyword research etc etc. (you can read “Creating Fat Affiliate Sites” for the full process).

Let’s take just one example - iPods.

I know there are affiliate programs for these “toys”, and a quick check at Wordtracker tells me that there are a lot of keywords about them. Plenty to get my teeth into, but there is a problem. I don’t know anything about iPods! How can I create a site about a topic I know nothing about.

Well, Ezine Articles to the rescue.

2. Ezine Articles for Researching Content

Go back to Ezine Articles.

In the Google search box at the top, type in ipod. Make sure that EzineArticles.com is checked, and click the “Google Search” button.

Currently there are 901 articles on iPods. That’s a lot of ready made research you can use to write your own content.

Let’s suppose you have done your keyword research and found that “nano ipods” are a hot item. You want to create a page on these, but again, you know nothing about them. Well, search Ezine Articles for nano ipod. Currently, there are 65 articles on nano ipods. Surely that is enough information to base your page on. Just pull out the interesting information/facts from each, collate, and re-write.

To add extra value to the internet, you should consider writing reviews on your site, but hang on… You don’t own Nano iPod, so how can you write a review? You guessed it. Search the article site for “review nano ipod”. There’s a few articles there offering reviews. Just read them, make notes, and write your own review.

Tip: An easy way to collect and collate information found during research, is to use software. I personally use “Net Snippets”, which I find invaluable, but there are cheaper options. I can’t give you a specific URL, but I have seen some clipboard software that keeps all of your cuttings for you to access later. That would be ideal too. Just copy the interesting information, and once research is complete, re-arrange, and REWRITE in your own words, and you have a quality article.

3. Ezine Articles for Creating Courses

The last of the 3 uses for this website is an important one - providing your visitors with something different, and more importantly, valuable. With all of your websites, you should be trying to build a visitor-orientated experience. Anything you can add that provides extra value to the visitor, will help you avoid being labelled a thin affiliate.

Things like forums, questionnaires and polls, fr.ee reports, autoresponder courses etc, all help. Its the last two items in this list that Ezine Articles is especially good at helping you with.

Fre.e reports and autoresponder courses are fantastic ways to build visitor confidence, and your affiliate income. They can be used to pre-sell affiliate products (or your own products), while offering quality information to the reader.

OK, back to Ezine Articles.

Type in ipod + review.

Back come the articles matching that search criteria. Look down the list and read a few of the articles. There are a number of reviews that could be bundled into a report, or autoresponder course on “iPod Reviews”. You will need to include the resource box if you use the articles (which is why I suggest you re-write them), but there is plenty of scope within the report/course for directing the reader to your own site, or directly pre-selling and affiliate product within the report/course.

On the list of ipod review articles, there’s one called “10 Reasons Why You Should Buy an Ipod Nano”. Go and read it.That author has created a list of 10 pre-selling reasons to buy a Nano iPod! That’s a great basis for writing quality pre-sell.

Tip: There are 1580 articles in Ezine Articles that have the exact phrase “10 Reasons” in them (search in quotes). This type of article is worth its weight in gold if you find one in your intended niche.

OK, you have your report or course plugged into your autoresponder, what next? Put up sign-up forms on your website, and then write and submit articles to article directories like Ezine Articles. Include a resource box offering your fre.e course or report. There is nothing better than the offer of something that is valuable and fr.ee to get people to visit your site.

Its a great way to turn a reader into a visitor, into a subscriber, into a customer!

2. An Idea for Site Content
—————————————————

Making a site valuable, entertaining, and informative, takes a lot of work. Why not look towards video? No, I’m not talking about creating your own, I’m talking about using (or at least linking to) what is already available on the internet. Google, Yahoo & Singing Fish (to name a few) have video searches.

e.g. Go to Google’s Video Search.

Type in ipod.

Hmmm.. 1004 videos on iPods.

Try Yahoo.

Go on, type in ipod.

7,251 videos about ipods.

How about Singing Fish?

1954 video and audio files.

You obviously need to check out the sources for limitations on use or linking to the videos, but why not:

1. Write short reviews or just descriptions of 10 videos. Put up a page on your site with links to these videos. Thats great information and entertainment for your visitors.

2. Put up a section on your site that shows “New” videos. Update this section on a weekly (or fortnightly) basis, to keep your visitors coming back for more.

3. Link to the videos from articles. e.g. If a video shows how to do something, write your own exlanation of the process, and then direct your visitor to watch the video.

4. Use the videos as a basis for your autoresponder course.

There are a lot of uses for these videos, limited only by your imagination.

Incidentally, I highly recommend you buy a copy of this tool to help in all of your research:

It is worth many times the asking price, and provides so many useful research centres built into one fun to use package. This software will give you more ideas, resources and help for adding valuable content to your site than any eBook or course on the subject. You will love it. The sales page has a video showing the basics of what this tool can do.

3. Other Stuff

The June Niche Blueprints will be released this week. I am not sure whether I’ll release one or two, but will make that decision tomorrow. There will definitely be one Blueprint with a bias towards Adsense, but possibly one with affiliate product potential as well.

If you want notification of when they are released, you can sign up at Niche Blueprints.

Well, that’s it for another issue. If you want to read the recent issues of this newsletter, you can read them online at my blog:
