This week:
1. F.r.ee PDF document creator
2. Quintura
3. Google Sitemaps?
4. Wordtracker Tip
Hi again.
I have been feeling very “burned out” these last few weeks which is why there was no newsletter last week. I almost decided not to write one again, but then remembered a few fr-ee goodies that I had been told about by subscribers. I thought you may be interested in them too, so here they are.
—————————————————
1. F.r.ee PDF document creator
—————————————————
Creating reports to sell or give away has been a very important part of my online business. The best format to publish these documents is PDF, but the Adobe tool for creating these is priced very high. I personally use Neevia Docuprinter LT for my own publishing needs, but one subscriber wrote to me and mentioned a fr.ee alternative.
You can get it here:
Primo PDF
I have had a few minutes to play with it (that’s all it takes to learn this software), and it works in the same way as the Neevia tool. You edit your document in your favourite word processor, and then “print” it to PDF format.
However, this tool does not seem to turn MS Word hyperlinks into active URLs unless the URL is used as the link text. Also, it doesn’t hyperlink the index entries to the relevant pages of the report.
If you want a basic tool for creating PDF files, this might suit your needs. However, for more professional looking end products, I recommend you check out the Neevia Docuprinter product.

2. Quintura
—————————————————
Latent Semantic Indexing is a term you have probably heard of. We have mentioned it in this newsletter recently. I refer to it as themeing. Anyway, whatever you want to call it, there is a nice f.re.e. tool that can help.
Quintura is software you install on your computer.
Type in a search phrase and Quintura returns a “map” of related phrases. To the right of the map you are shown search results for the phrase.
Place your mouse over any of the words in the map, and the results on the right change to reflect the word you have your mouse over. Its difficult to describe this tool, but it is informative, useful, and fr.ee.

3. Google Sitemaps?
—————————————————
Although I don’t personally use Google Sitemaps on my sites, I know a lot of people do. Here is a nice tool that will not only create Google Sitemaps, but some other cool stuff too.

4. Wordtracker Tip
—————————————————
If you use Wordtracker, you will know that when doing competition searches, it occasionally (or not so occasionally) returns a value of -1 for competition on some phrases.
Here is a tip that was sent to me by one Wordtracker/KRA user. Even if you don’t use KRA, its still a great tip (thanks Michael).
“Hello Dr. Andy,
I thought you might want to include this little helpful hint about solving the Word Tracker competition error when it provides competition values of negative one.
Instead of going through each error manually in KRA (which takes a lot of time), all you have to do is pay attention to the competition results as you perform competition searches on each set of 100 keyword phrases inside of Word Tracker. What I do is this…
If the results for any set of 100 competition results show a phrase with a value of -1 (found with a simple quick scroll to the bottom of the screen), I simply hit the “Proceed” button again on the Competition screen. Many times, the error will be corrected the second time. Sometimes, I may have to hit the “Proceed” button one or two more times, but the primary advantage is that I spend much less time in Word Tracker correcting those competition errors than I do in KRA trying to do the same thing manually, especially when I have keyword lists of a few thousand phrases. The end result is “error free” importing into KRA from Word Tracker emails!
I’m sure you knew this already, but I noticed there was no mention of this shortcut within the KRA-WT help pdf file. I thought others might want to know this short cut since it be somewhat discouraging to see so many Word Tracker competition errors sometimes. ”
