This week:
1. 3 months to $500 a month?
2. Orwell – a useful fre.e tool
3. More videos from Brad & Andy
4. Latent Semantic what?
5. Other Stuff
Hi again.
Last week I made a small blunder that was pointed out by one subscriber. In one of my articles, I used Xs to hide the real domain name. Well, it seems that in one case, the XXX domain actually pointed to a real site, and as you can imagine, the content wasn’t for a family audience. If you did go to those URLs, I’m sorry. It was an honest mistake.

1. 3 months to $500 a month?
—————————————————
I got an email this week from someone who has a modest goal. They want to be making $500 a month, but only have 3 months to achieve that goal, or its back to his day job.
I know that many marketers would just recommend getting lots of sites up quickly, but my own strategy is very different.
The way I see it is that if you build lots of sites quickly, you’ll end up with lots of site that don’t make you m0ney. Sites that will do well in the search engines need to be quality, both on-page and off. That is the basis for my plan.
Here is what I would do (and be warned, it takes work).
1. Aim to create only ONE site in the 3 month period, so that you can concentrate on quality.
2. Carry out extensive keyword research at Wordtracker.
3. Pick the top 20 or so keywords, and aim to build a 20 page site.
4. For each of the 20 pages, create quality, themed content (see my video on Latent Semantic Indexing later in this newsletter). You can add Adsense, or pre-sell an affiliate product.
5. While you are creating these site pages (maybe one a day), write additional articles and submit them to as many directories as you can find. I would recommend another 2 articles per day being submitted to article directories. Each article resource box should target a different keyword phrase, and point to one of the main site pages (not just at the homepage).
I highly recommend you use some sort of automation tool here as time is short. A good, cheap option is this one.
Automating article submissions with software means that instead of hours, it takes minutes, leaving more time for you to concentrate on other areas needing your attention.
6. While you continue working on the above, building inbound links, and creating quality content for your site, you should be submitting your site to as many directories as you can find. Aim to submit it to a minimum of one directory a day, preferably two. Directories often take some time to list your site, so start this as soon as your have a homepage up. Again, you can speed up directory submissions using software, and that has the added bonus of showing you where the directories are, and even filling in the submission forms. Software will keep track of what is submitted where, so you don’t have to. Again, this will speed up your work, and you will save hours or days over the 3 month period.
Here is the software I use for this purpose.
Once the first month is over, you should have a 20 pages site that also has:
* been submitted to 30 – 60 directories.
* 60 articles submitted to lots of article directories, with keyword rich links pointing to all 20 of your website pages.
I would recommend that you continue to submit at least 2 articles a day for the remaining 2 months, plus submitting to at least 2 directories a day for that period of time.
As month 2 starts, go through your keywords again, and build themed lists of phrases that would make good webpage. Write 2 pages a week, and add them to your site for the next 2 months. With the articles you are submitting, make sure these new pages get links back in the resource boxes.
By the end of the 3 months, you should have a website that has:
* 36 pages of quality content
* been submitted to 90 – 180 directories
* 180 articles submitted to lots of websites, with resource boxes pointing to various pages on your site, using a variety of keyword rich text.
* significant traffic to your site from article referrals, and natural search results.
IF your site is quality, and you chose your niche well, this should be bringing you in at least $500 per month in income. Yes, it is an intense plan, but then making m0ney on the internet is not as easy as some would have you believe.

2. Orwell – a useful fre.e tool
—————————————————
Here is a goodie for you, and it’s fr-ee. Orwell is a kind of “Article Browser”. With Orwell, you browse a variety of article sites to find content you want. Orwell then automatically strips out the various sections of the article (Title, Author, Body of the article, and resource box), already formatted and ready for you to copy and paste each section back into your website, or get Orwell to create the HTML pages for you.
NOTE: I have had some emails from a couple of readers who misunderstood what I meant above. I am not suggesting that you remove the resource box when posting on your site, I am saying that Orwell formats the resource box for you, so you only have to copy and paste the HTML from Orwell. Normally when copying resource boxes from article sites, you have to reconstruct the links. Orwell does it for you, and that is one of its benefits. Sorry if I was not clear. You would be breaking the TOS of the article sites if you remove the resource box, or remove the active links.
You also get keyword density data on the articles, so you can decide if the article is one you want to use on your site. Orwell is a great tool for quickly finding and using articles on your site. You can download it here.
I know that Jason (the creator) is coming out with Orwell Pro in the next few weeks, so look out for that one. It’s supposed to be a super-charged version of Orwell. If you like Orwell, I am sure the Pro version will blow your socks off.

3. More videos from Brad & Andy
—————————————————
They continue to release great videos which give you really valuable insights into the strategies used by Super Affiliates. Last week I gave you a link to the first video, and a report. Things have flown by this week, and they are now up to video #3. You can watch the third one here.
If you missed the first one or two, there is a link to these as well. Take particular note of video talking about Latent Semantic Indexing. We’ll mention that in the next section of this newsletter.
—————————————————
4. Latent Semantic what?
—————————————————
In Brad & Andy’s video #2 part 1, they talk you through Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI). This is a term a lot of people are using these days, since search engines are using LSI to help determine page relevancy to search queries. If you have been reading this newsletter for any length of time, or read my Fat Affiliate sites book, you may recognise the principle of LSI. I call it themeing.
Basically, LSI looks at the combinations of words on a page to decide what the topic is really about. Brad & Andy give you the example of a Fork in their video. Without any other words to go by, Google would not be able to decide whether this was a fork in the road, or a fork you eat with. Only by looking at other words on the page can Google really decide and then rank the page.
Basically, you need to create pages that are well themed, and contain a variety of words that are commonly associated together. But how do you find the best words and phrases to put together on a page, so that the LSI algorithm correctly categorises your page? Well, I put together a short video to show you how I do it. On this page, look at video #4.

*** The September Niche Blueprint has just been released. Read more by clicking the September 2006 link at the top right of Niche Blueprint Homepage.***
All of the Niche Blueprints from last year have now sold out, but there are still a few of the more recent ones available. If you are looking for an in-depth plan, with all the research laid out for you, Niche Blueprints could be the answer. Keywords have been meticulously researched, and divided into groups. The manual explains what to do with each group, and how to structure, build and promote your site so that it quickly becomes pr0fitable. All you need to do is plug in your own content.
A large number of you have downloaded the fr.ee graphics I mentioned in a recent newsletter. In case you missed it, get them here.
The guy that is giving them away does offer a great discount on a much bigger package of graphics as a 0ne-time-0ffer at the time you get your fre.ebies. That means you only get that chance to buy them if you want them, otherwise they’ll cost a lot more. There is no obligation to buy anything though, and I do recommend the fr.eebies if you are building any kind of sales site.
Well, that’s it for another issue. If you want to read the recent issues of this newsletter, you can read them online at my blog:
