Hi again.

Hope you have had a good week. This week we look at the box model in our CSS tutorial, there’s some great tips for getting the best out of Google, plus lots more.

OK, let’s get on.

—————————————————
1. Do you struggle with Article Writing ?
—————————————————

I bought a 45 page article writing report for $7 the other day on the recommendation of a friend. This report was written by well-known marketer Martin Avis.

I have bought some of Martin’s other stuff before, and it has always been good quality stuff. So what’s the deal with the $7 price tag on this report? Well, I’m not sure, but I am sure that this report is excellent.

For anyone struggling to write their own quality content, this report will give you lots of ideas. Martin outlines 12 different types of article, and then goes through how to write one. These 12 types can easily be converted into your own templates for easily writing quality content quickly (if you bought my course on Creating Fat Content, why not create a template for each of these 12 styles in the Article Writing software).

Martin not only gives you a simple way to make sure that all of your articles cover the main bases, but he also goes through the main “features” that all good articles need.

Overall this report is packed with great information and I highly recommend it to anyone who is struggling to write their own content.

2. Some advanced searches at Google
—————————————————

Google has some excellent advanced methods for getting the information you want. Below I have listed a couple of the ones I use a lot.

“+”

By including a + sign in your query, you can force Google to return only those pages that have whatever is following the plus sign. This can help you narrow down your search.

e.g. if you search for:

log stats script

You’ll get lots of pages returned (I get 6,270,000 pages). However, what if you were only interested in “perl” log stats scripts? Well, you can include the “+” sign in the following search:

log stats script +perl

The search is narrowed to now include only the pages that are on the topic of “log stats scripts”, but also contain the word “perl”. Over here, I get 1,200,000 pages.

Or how about:

log stats script +free

Overall, the “+” sign is invaluable in refining searches to get at the information you really want.

“OR”
—-

The OR modifier will allow you to return search that are related to one word OR another.

e.g. Searching for exercise machine returns 6,160,000 pages. However, if I was only interested in looking for a treadmill or an elliptical, I could search like this:

exercise machine elliptical OR treadmill

That returns 1,190,000 pages.

To use this one, just place a capital OR between the two words you want to refine the search on.

“~”

The tilde is very useful, and not one that many will have heard about. This modifier returns not only pages related to your search term, but also synonyms of your search term.

e.g. search for parrot.

Look down the results at the words in bold. These are the search phrase highlighted. However, by searching for parrot using a tilde, we can get pages that include synonyms of the word parrot, and you’ll be able to spot them easily because they too will be bold.

~parrot

As you look down the search results, Google returns pages with the following words in bold:

parrot
parrots
avian
parrot’s
pet
bird
parrott’s
parrott
macaw

Those are the words that Google see as related to our original search term. In other words, these are the words that Google might expect to see on a page about parrots ;o)

Here is an example using more than one word:

~vegan~food

And this returns these words:

vegan
food
recipes
restaurant
cooking
nutrition
foods
cuisine
restaurants
recipe
veggie
food’s
animal
rights

Cool eh?

4. Jason Potash again.
—————————————————

Last week I showed you a report written by Jason Potash. If you missed it, you can read it here.

I mentioned that while I agreed with a lot of the information in the report (and there is some excellent information on duplicate content problems, LSI etc), there was something I didn’t like. Did you find it?

Jason is about to release his Content Composer software and course. I have seen the software in a video he created, and as an article writing tool, it is excellent, with some great tools to help you theme your content.

However, this tool also has a feature that allows you to create multiple articles (27 in fact) out of basically the same article. It does this by getting you to re-write variations on paragraphs, and then mixing them up some. While this method is better than some I have seen, it still has duplicated content across multiple articles.

I personally would never dream of publishing these 27 articles on my own sites. However, I don’t think Jason suggests you do. What he has here is a system for creating 60% unique articles that can be submitted to article directories. That way, you’ll have 27 variations on the same article, but no two articles will be the same, and therefore they are unlikely to be tagged as duplicate. That means your submitted articles will have more effect on your rankings, since more will count as backlinks to YOUR web pages.

This system may work now, and you may feel comfortable doing this. However, I have to wonder about the long-term viability of a system that creates multiple articles that will have duplicate sentences/paragraphs within those articles. e.g. the way I see it working, 9 of the 27 articles will have the same first paragraph for many users of this software.

Obviously I don’t know enough about the full product Jason is releasing, but he is a clever guy, and I am sure the course will cover all of the bases. As we get closer to the release date, Jason will no doubt fill in more of the details, so we can all make an educated decision on whether to buy or not.

I am sure that many will buy this course and abuse the system. They are the ones that are only interested in quick results, and they will ultimately fail. Some who buy this course and software could do very well out of it, but only if they put the effort in.

You can read more about the release of this product over at his blog.

If you bought this course last year when Jason released it, and have comments about the course, or my take on it, please let me know. I’d love to hear more about it from someone who owns it.

5. SEO Website Builder v2 News
—————————————————

On Monday, SEO WSB v2 will finally be officially released.

You can get a sneak preview of the new sales page here:

http://seo-website-builder.com/index3.html

You can sign up for notifications of its release, plus watch some videos of SEO WSB in action here.

I am hoping to add a video to the sales page showing an overview of some cool features. That should be available tomorrow.

I have also added a last minute new feature to SEO WSB which I have mentioned on the SEO WSB forum. Users are going to love it.

Finally, if you own SEO WSB, John King has released an updated, and significantly cheaper version of his Turbo flex Pro system. If you don’t know what this is, you should have a look at this page.

Basically, this tool allows you to create your own SEO WSB v2 templates, with a nice point and click, and fill in the blanks style interface. Very cool.
