Hi again.
There wasn’t a newsletter last week, as it was the morning after my birthday ;o)

This week, I want to update you on the theme content experiment I told you about last time, plus we’ll continue with our mini-series on selling your own product online, and there’s a couple of fr.ee downloads.

Let’s get on..

1. How I use PLR content
—– ——- ——- —— —— —- —- —– —- —

I have had a few emails from people asking me about my views on PLR content. If you have read my newsletter for any length of time, or read some of my fre.e. reports, you’ve probably got the impression I am against PLR content.

Well, that’s not true. In fact, I actually have been using PLR content for a few years now (ever since Nicheology opened its doors). I have written a short report that you can download, which describes how I use PLR content in my business. You can get it here:

2. Experiment – Themed Content Update
—————————————————

In issue #180 of this newsletter, I told you about a new page I created for one of my sites using the themeing techniques I have described in this newsletter (and in more detail in my Fat Content Course). I want to update you on the progress of that page, but first, a reminder of where it stood last time.

The page was indexed within 24 hours of uploading it to my site, and in the first 48 hours it was found for 17 different search phrases at Google (my page was #1 for 4 of those phrases, and 8 top 5s).

In the first 2 weeks online, the page has now been found for 60 DIFFERENT search phrases in Google.

The reason the page gets found for so many search terms (and this is in a very competitive niche), is simple. It’s quality, themed content. Google sees the page as a very good match for queries in this niche, and my page covers most of the words that people are likely to use in their searches. The result is lots of traffic for a diverse range of phrases.

The methods I use to create content like this are taught in my Creating Fat Content Course. If you are interested in finding out more about this course, part 7 of this newsletter. This is the new SEO!

3. How to sell a product online – Part IX
—————————————————

Last week, I showed you this mind map:

Writing a Sales Page

This was the mindmap I created as I brainstormed how to create a sales page. In last weeks issue, we looked at the Unique Selling Proposition (USP). Understanding your USP is essential to creating a quality sales page. After all, you need to know what sets your product apart before you can persuade someone else to pay for the product.

This week, I’d like to look at the “Web Copy Principles” section of that mind map.

KISS is a principle I first heard about from Ken Evoy (of Sitesell & Site Build It fame). It stands for “Keep it Simple Stupid”. The idea behind this is to try not to complicate things too much – just keep it simple. The book I bought from Ken that talked about KISS is now fr.ee, and well worth a read:

Make your content pre-sell

The KISS principle is a good one. In order to keep things simple, we need some sort of blueprint that we can follow.

A kind of road map we can use to ensure we include all of the relevant information, in the right order, without things getting complicated. This is where the AIDA principle comes in.

AIDA stands for:

A – Attention
I – Interest
D – Desire
A – Action

Attention – You need to get the attention of your reader. Let them know immediately why they need to read your sales letter. There is no better way to do this than provide an attention grabbing headline.

Interest – You need to answer your visitor’s “What’s in it for me?” question.

Desire – Paint a picture of how your product can help save time, money, stress etc. etc. If someone can see benefits that will help them, they will have a desire to buy your product.

Action – Tell your visitor what you want them to do next. Tell them to click your buy button, or download your report.

These 4 sections are the cornerstone of great sales copy.

In fact, you could apply these to any form of web content. Do you want your visitors to read your content? Then follow the AIDA principle. Do you want your visitors to download your viral report? Follow AIDA. You get the idea.

With AIDA, you have a solid plan of action. All you need to do is fill in the blanks.

There’s quite a lot to think about here (and don’t forget to read Ken’s fr.ee eBook), so I’ll leave it there for this week. Next week, I’ll tell you my own formula, modified from the AIDA principle, for writing sales copy.

4. Niche Blueprints
—————————————————

There are still a few of the September Niche Blueprints available.

Here are the details:

Total Phrases: 3661

In this niche, I have identified over 147 “Question Style Phrases”. These are phrases that people type into the search engines that are actually questions, or requests for information. They make ideal titles/ideas for articles on your site. They are the types of article, that if answered properly, provide really valuable information.

Some general stats on keyword research
469 of these phrases have 5 or more daily searches, with less than 1000 competing pages in Google, representing 5988 searches a day at Google.

275 of these phrases have 5 or more daily searches, with less than 100 competing pages in Google, representing 3025 searches a day at Google.

174 of these phrases have 5 or more daily searches, with less than 10 competing pages in Google, representing 1524 searches a day at Google.

48 of these phrases have 5 or more daily searches, with less than 0 competing pages in Google, representing 342 searches a day at Google.

This niche is ideally suited to Adsense or Affiliate programs, e.g. Books, eBooks, pharmacy or natural remedies, pillows, air purifiers etc.

This Blueprints comes with a list of 175 phrases that Google estimates as having a CPC of over $1. These CPCs rise to over $15 per click!!

6. A cool add-on for Firefox
—————————————————

Last week, I suggested that you made Dealdotcom your homepage so you wouldn’t miss out on good opportunities as they arose. One problem with doing this is that you probably already had a favourite start page, and don’t want to change it.

Well, one subscriber wrote in with an alternative for Firefox users. Its an add-on called Morning Coffee.

You can read what it does, and download it here:
