2. Twitter Experiment Failed
3. New Google Keyword Tool
4. Better Blogging Guide
5. Perry Marshall Bootcamp
Hi Again
In the last few newsletters I have tried to get people who are interested in my new Datafeed tool to follow me on Twitter. Unfortunately that isn’t working for reasons I explain in section 2 of this newsletter, so read that for more details on my new tool.
I also have news of a new Keyword tool from Google plus news on an eBook that is my pick of 2009 so far.

1. Google First questions answered

In the newsletter last week I got Michael Green to answer the questions that you sent me about his new product due for launch later today. If you missed that issue, you can read it online here:
I have had several emails this week from subscribers asking me something like this:
Hi Andy, I really value your opinion and wanted to know if Google 1st is something that I should buy……
The truth is I haven’t seen Google 1st (I have reserved my copy, but it isn’t released until tonight), and until I do and until I try it for myself I cannot give you an opinion based on my own personal experience. All I can do is report back what Michael has told me and what he has shown me over the last couple of weeks. I have no doubt that Michael’s own business is benefiting hugely from his Google 1st strategy, and I have no doubt that mine will too.
From what I have seen, a lot of Google 1st strategies are not new. However, where Google 1st will probably be worth its weight to many of us is in the step-by-step layout of the course. Michael provides a spreadsheet to work from (as well as a big manual), so you can follow along exact steps and record them in the spreadsheet. This is like a recipe book knitting together the strategies into a coherent plan of attack, so that anyone can follow along. Do step A, then step B and so on.
This week I had another chat with Michael and he showed me more examples of his rankings. For those who don’t know what his product does, let me recap.
The idea behind Google 1st is to dominate Google for terms that people are using to find products and services. Buying phrases tend to be longer phrases (long tail), which is what Google 1st targets.
Google 1st uses multiple methods for getting your content on the first page of Google (and some of the examples Michael has shown me has him dominating 9 out of the top 10). That means multiple pages controlled by you get into the top 10, so that people searching for those terms get to see your content (whatever that might be). That’s the first bit of the strategy.
Secondly, those top 10 "entities" also work towards helping your main site rank better, so your main site also benefits.
Michael showed me examples of his real world bricks and mortar business, where he was dominating Google for terms related to his business. Not only did he dominate Google for a range of long-tail, frequently searched for "m0ney phrases", but the Google 1st properties that were dominating Google also helped to push his main business website up to #1 on some of these and other searches.
The fact that Michael is using this on his own business so successfully has lead to a dilemma. Should he really be releasing this toolkit? The last thing he wants to do is make these techniques common knowledge so that Google decides to act to block its effectiveness. Because of that, Michael told me that he may be withdrawing the product from sale as soon as sales pass a certain figure (he didn’t tell me what that figure was). I would recommend that if this is something you think you want to get, reserve your copy today at:
Remember that the toolkit is released tonight to all those who have reserved their copies, and I expect there will also be a rush of last minute sales (in case Michael raises the price).
Incidentally, one of my concerns with this program was whether the rankings would last.
Michael answered this by telling me that the course also has a maintenance program that allows you to maintain your rankings with a minimal amount of time each month (minutes).

2. Twitter Experiment Failed
– — – — – — – — – — – — – — – — –
In the last couple of newsletters I have asked people that were interested in my new datafeed program to follow me on Twitter for news of that. This was an experiment to see how effective Twitter is in getting out a message, and its all gone horribly wrong.
Let me explain what happened, and why I think it happened.
During the week, I posted to my Twitter account a couple of times. The first post was about my new Article Writing software. I had a new video showing another great new feature of the tool. 48 hours after the Tweet, the video had only been seen by about 5% of my Twitter followers.
I then posted some news about my new Datafeed program. That was seen by about 10% of my Twitter followers.
It looks like my Twitter followers are not seeing my posts, and its hardly surprising.
As I see it, the problem with Twitter is that many of your followers never get to see your posts because of the way other people are using this tool.
Many Twitter users posts so much rubbish, and post it so frequently, that messages quickly become buried under a heap of "I’m off to bed", or "Watching my dog eat the cats food" style posts.
If you are following just a handful of people on Twitter, chances are you would miss my posts because they are few and far between.
Incidentally, I have been playing with Tweet Desk, Twhirl and Seesmic Desktop to try to find the best Twitter Client software. If you have any opinions, or suggestions, please leave a comment at the online version of this newsletter (URL is in the resource box at the end of this newsletter).
Anyway, back to my problem. Since the Twitter thing is not working here, I have created a notification list for those interested in my new Datafeed tool.
For those who are only following me on Twitter for the datafeed info, you can now unfollow me if you wish and just sign up to be notified via email.
You can read a little more about the my new tool, and sign up for notifications here:

3. New Google Keyword Tool
– — – — – — – — – — – — – — – — –
I was going to create a small video showing you how to use this tool, but ran out of time. You can look at the beta of SKTool here:
I recommend you read the help in the left hand column, and also, if you are not getting any (or many) results returned, check the country settings.
If you want me to record a short video showing how to use this tool, leave a comment in the online version of this newsletter (see resource box at the end of this newsletter).

4. Better Blogging Guide
– — – — – — – — – — – — – — – — –
Someone recommended a book to me this week, and I am really glad they did. It is so refreshing to see a book packed with unique content that isn’t just a rehash of old stuff.
In fact, this book is unlike any I have seen before as it’s a book of 31 tasks. Each day you carry out one of the tasks.
The book is all about creating a dynamic, stimulating blog – one where people interact and want to come back to read more, as well as develop your standing in that niche community.
Does that sound like your blog?
Not only does the book tell you how to create just that, it actually gets you to do the steps involved over 31 days (or however long you want).
Who is this book for?
Well, in my opinion it is for EVERYONE who owns a blog site.
This book is just so important to all bloggers who want to make an impact on the Internet.
If you have started a blog but don’t know what to do next, this book will keep you busy for at least the next 31 days creating a blog that will make you look like you have been blogging for years. You will also be able to develop an action plan for the next 31 days, or more.
This book is also for those who have a blog but have lost motivation, or cannot think where to go next with it. Again, this book will keep you busy for the next 31 days.
When I read the sales letter of this book, I wondered about the tasks. Would they be 31 variations on "Write a post on XYZ", etc. I needn’t have worried. The tasks are just brilliant, well thought out, and obviously the brainchild of a educational master. This has to be one of my top picks for 2009 so far, and its only 19.95.
By the end of the 31 days, you will have written in a variety of different types and styles, seen how easy it is to come up with new ideas for posts, promoted your blog in a number of ways, built relationships with readers, developed working relationships with other bloggers, and so much more.
The book runs to over 90 pages, and you’ll definitely want to print it out and get it bound.

5. Perry Marshall Bootcamp
– — – — – — – — – — – — – — – — –
Perry Marshall is a heavy weight Adwords guru who has weathered the storms sent by Google. In June he is starting another Bootcamp. Let me give you a few more details.
The biggest problem with Adwords is that it is no longer easy to make m0ney. You might have read sales letters from Internet Marketers that might contradict that, some offering untold wealth with Adwords and their system, but I wonder how many of them are actually making the big bucks themselves.
With Adwords evolving so quickly, and Google implementing new "features" that only appear to hinder Adwords advertisers, it is vital you stay up to date with what is going on, what works and why. Its no good buying a book from last year – it’ll be out of date already.
Quoting Perry:
"AdWords started in 2002 and back then, you could win just by having a bigger keyword list than the next guy.
Today if you use that strategy, you’ll run out of money in
about 3 months and birds will be eating your carcass".
Adwords in 2009 is a different ball game altogether.
Anyone wanting to get into Adwords these days has a big problem. Google just doesn’t trust you. That means you’ll pay more for ads, and you’ll be lucky if your ads get shown more than 20% of the time. You might even wake up one morning to find your 20 cents keywords now cost you $5.
This is where Perry’s Bootcamp comes in.
Perry is a world leading expert on Adwords, and has helped thousands of people overcome the initial hurdles Google throws at them, and thrive.
Perry’s Bootcamp is a 4 week online coaching program starting June 9 which covers all major aspects of Google AdWords.
"All course materials are provided in digital and DVD format, and you’ll get weekly teleseminars covering all major aspects of Google AdWords plus one extended small group coaching session via GoToMeeting, where your coach will help you fine tune your AdWords campaign".
You can read more about the Bootcamp here:
It starts on June 9th, so hurry if interested.

Hi Andy,
1stly, thanks for answering my Google 1st qs as you promised in issue #241. Extending to one of my qs if the techniques may be similar to Jeff Johnson’s tutorial, I believe there’s probably a huge overlap. Anyway, here’s Jeff’s training video, where he demonstrated how he secured the top 10 rankings.

Next, I would really like to see a video on http://google.com/sktool. I’ve seen some vids by Market Samurai, but I believe you may have something more insightful. Also, I’m not sure if SKT has the same country traffic segmentation like G’s KWT.
Thanks!
Hi Andy
Would like to see a video on http://google.com/sktool. I always seem to get more from a video than text.

I know what you mean about the stream of garbage from some Tweeters. I tried several clients before settling on Seesmic Desktop. I didn’t like TweetDesk’s limitation of four fixed columns. Seesmic has one fixed column and an unlimited (I guess) number of horizontally-scrolling columns. In the fixed column I display my “Always” userlist in which I’ve placed only those people who post just when they have something worthwhile to say: you, Mark Thompson, Paul Forcey, and a few others. I have my several Twitter accounts displaying in the scrolling columns, and I glance at them from time to time… hardly ever seeing anything worthwhile.
Hi, I am regularly reading your articles.
I also want to create a training video of my website.
Can you suggest me a Demo Creator software ?
Hi Rajesh
I personally use Catasia Studio. Its a professional tool with a professional price. There is a free alternative but I do not know how good it is. Have a look at http://camstudio.org/
Thanks Andy for the informative blog post.
I too would like to see a quick video of the capabilities you think
Googles new beta tool can bring.
I noticed that I can type in competitors websites and get some results, perhaps touch on that.
Thanks again, looking forward to your video

Count me in on the video. If you have the time to make it, I will definitely watch it.
I have often wondered about the people that are following thousands on Twitter. When do they find the time to read just 10% of the tweets? Especially when it is mundane, “what I had for dinner” nonsense. Thanks for the info on Seesmic. I want to check that out. I just started using Tweetlater.com. to help me streamline Twitter a little better, so it sounds like Seesmic will be a big help too.
Hi Andy
Im still on the face about purchasing Google 1st so I did some digging. I came across a few of Michaels web 2.0 properties and some keywords he would be trying to rank for and they aren’t on the first page. There’s one keyword where his main site is on the middle of the 1st page but his web 2.0 properties aren’t there. Isn’t really domination.
Although I know most of the methods Michael uses I would happily pay for the step by step aspect … but it doesn’t appear the results are sustainable.
Does he show examples in the guide?
thanks
Jack
I havent had time to go through the Google 1st course yet. I had intended to have done so by now, but I am working on two pieces of software, have alot of existing sites to update AND a newlsetter to write, stuff to read…….
