Hi Again
This week I have another tutorial for you, plus a look at who I consider to be one of the world’s top SEO.

1. Tutorial: Creating Custom Sidebars in WordPress
– — – — – — – — – — – — – — – — –
This tutorial incorporates two of the questions I have been asked this week.
The first one is how to add server side includes to sidebars in WordPress (because the "Include It" plugin does not work in the sidebars), and the second question is how to show different ads in different categories of your WordPress site.
The tutorial contains the answer to both of these questions by showing you how to insert different Amazon feeds into different pages of your site based on what category they are in.
Since the tutorial contains a lot of screenshots, I have posted the tutorial on my Affiliate Minder site. Here is the link to the tutorial:

2. Who is the World’s top SEO?
– — – — – — – — – — – — – — – — –
Its a difficult question to answer.
I can tell you one thing though. Whoever it is will be basing their SEO knowledge and teachings on experimental results.
In that respect, Jerry West has to be considered. Jerry currently has 583 domains that he uses in his testing. Yes, you read that right. Nearly 600 domains.
Michael Campbell’s described Jerry’s work as "The best SEO advice on the planet."
Wouldn’t it be great if you could see the results of his testing?
Well, in January 2008, I discovered that I could get Jerry’s test results. Jerry had written a book based purely on those test results.
The book is frequently updated (and customers get those updates for life), the most recent one was on the 7th July 2009.
For the last year and a half, Jerry has been my SEO guru. He IS the guy I turn to when I have an SEO question. If you want better rankings in Google, this really is the definitive guide, and the only one you will ever need.
The book is divided up into 6 main sections and an Appendix.
The first sections covers the basics of SEO, with some great examples. There is a lot of stuff covered that I have not seen in other SEO books, like how to get a double listing in Google.
The second section of the book gives you a "Website Development Checklist" so you can set your sites up in the same way Jerry does with his. Want maximum "Google love"? Jerry shows you how to get it.
Section 3 of the book is a What if… section. It covers a lot of ground including things like:
* how to find out if your page has been penalized.
* duplicate content penalties and how to avoid them (and how you may have "duplicate content" without even knowing it because of the way you link to your content).
.. and a lot more.
Section 4 of the book looks at the supplemental index and how to stay out of it. This section also has a large question and answer section that answers questions related to the supplemental index. The end of section 4 tells you how to get reincluded in Google if your site is dropped for some reason.
Section 5 of the book looks at Google Tools and section 6 recommends some sites where you can stay on top of current changes.
The final section of the book is the Appendix. The first part of the Appendix is a compilation of conversations that Jerry has personally had with Google engineers. It covers topics like hyphens in links, link building, spam complaints, social marketing site links, subdomains, pagerank sculpting and much much more.
Another really cool section of the Appendix is the Google Webmaster Tools tutorial. For those who don’t know about Google Webmaster Tools, you need to read and implement the information from this section. For those who do use this tool, read the section anyway and learn how to take advantage of it.
At just $47, this guide is a must have guide for anyone wanting better Google results. It’s 175 pages packed with information you can use as well as some examples taken from Jerry’s toolbox of 580+ test sites:

Hi Andy,
Just curious, how would you compare this to an earlier product that you reviewed – Michael Green’s Google 1st, which you highly recommended, and I’ve also invested in?
No question, I’ve seen some of Jerry West’s information, and they are all tested and technical. But from the perspective of generating traffic and online biz, and from user application, would you say MG’s G 1st is more structured and directly applicable to drive traffic?
Thanks,
Andy
Michael Green’s Google 1st is a course in using Web 2.0 properties to get rankings in Google.
Jerry’s eBook is on how Google works, and how to optimize your pages and sites for Google. It goes back to the roots of SEO and is a more “traditional” SEO book. Google 1st wont answer your questions about what works in Google or what will get you into trouble – Jerry’s book will.
I strongly recommend this book. It is the testing that makes all the difference. If you have a guy who has done the testing for you already and shares some of his results for a few bucks then you know how valuable it is. Have you ever tried testing yourself? It’s not only hundreds of hours of work but also you need a lot of patience because most of the things you try to test don’t produce immediate results but you have to wait months for anything to happen! So get this book!
