EzSEO Newsletter # 264

In this issue:

1. Keyword Research with Market Samurai

2. KRA – when will it be free?

Hi Again

Here in Tenerife the summer weather has been clinging on (temperatures hit 28C where I live this week) -  you?d never guess it was November already.  However, today it looks like things are changing.  The sea was looking stormy earlier today, and as I look out of my window the clouds are coming in and there is a strong wind gusting.  It looks like a storm is coming.

During the week I had to take a couple of days off work to do a little maintenance on the house.  I had intended to do this work in July or August but hasn?t this year flown by?  I can hardly believe that my son is going to be one next month!  Anyway, enough of my life, I hope you have had a good week.

This week?s newsletter is ultra-short (partly due to the days off work, and partly due to the Halloween Party we had).

After several requests, I have created tutorial on Keyword Research using Market Samurai.  You can get a trial version of Market Samurai to follow along with the tutorial.

Also this week, I have a preview of the Market Samurai import feature that should be released to KRA Pro owners this week and news of the release of KRA as freeware.

1. Keyword Research with Market Samurai

Market Samurai is quickly becoming a favourite tool of mine.  Its not just the keyword research, but the vast array of other vital information it can give me about my projects.  Last week I created a tutorial on Finding and evaluating micro niches which was designed to help you find tiny niches worth dominating.

I have had several emails during the week from readers who are more interested in building larger niches (more along the lines of what I have been suggesting you build over the last few years).  The tutorial starts off by quickly exploring the fitness niche, identifying potential niches to build sites on, and then looking at one of those potential niches in more detail.  I?ll quickly show you the ?silo? structure of the sites I build and then how to identify categories for the website.  Finally we?ll look at identifying phrases that could be used for articles, and how to get additional phrases for your categories if you need them.

Watch the tutorial: Using Market Samurai for Niche Keyword Research.

Incidentally, I have added a new feature to KRA Pro for Market Samurai users.  It hasn?t been released yet to customers (though it will be very soon), but you can watch it in action here:

2. KRA – when will it be fr.ee?
– — – — – — – — – — – — – — – — –

I had hoped to announce the free version of KRA this week, but time got the better of me.  It is actually finished, I just need to test it a little more.  I may announce its release this week, but if not, it should be announced in next Sunday?s newsletter.  Because of the delay, I haven?t yet removed the upgrade option for those who have purchased KRA in the past.  Before ?KRA Free? is released, you can upgrade your bought copy of KRA for just $70.  To do so, login to the KRA download site using your KRA username and password, and look for details of the upgrade in the menu.  When KRA Free is released, this upgrade option will be removed.

You said that your favorite tool is nichehorde at last week. samurai gets a lot of information, often it is not need. In any case, you need know what’s what and range of some indicators need. I use MNF.

I would like you to do tutorial for finding microniches with MNF. Particularly important to understand the relationship between the parameters in assessing the competition.
I’m not sure about indicator “exact search coun”t and what it should be for the “low competition” level (google sometimes show very large number at first results page and little number at last). MNF shows first page number. First google results page for SEO’s clients and last for SEOs themselves:)

    • Andy says:

Actually Yurium, I have never said Niche Horde was my favourite tool. Its a good tool, but its a niche finder, not a keyword research tool. What I am showing with Market Samurai is its Keyword research ability.

Micro Niche Finder is a tool I have, but I cannot get it to work properly on my computer, so I wont be doing any tutorials for it any time soon, sorry (I only do tutorials for tools I use because these are the tools I know). I believe that the author of MNF has some tutorials available though. Certainly for questions relating to MNF, you should contact its author.

  2. Mark says:

    Hi There Andy,

Thanks for putting up the Mkt Sam video!

I have Mkt Sam Andy, and I was hoping you could please tell me, why you think its keyword filter is ‘weak’ as you said in the video?
I ask this, because you might help me see something that I may be missing to my detriment. I love the program, but I would also like to know where its weaknesses are, so I know not to spend too much time on those, and focus on the other features.

Secondly, Could you please tell me the name of the video flash-player on that Mkt-Sam Tutorial Video just now, if I respectfully ask? It looks wonderful !
    Thanks as always Andy!
    Have a good week ahead,
    Mark

    • Andy says:

My comment about the filter is just that to get he exact words I want is very difficult (and not always possible). This is nothing to do with the keyword research, just the way you can handle the data. e.g. In MS it is impossible to pull out phrases that have a mimimum number of awords ads. Also try to do any complicated filters based on inclusion and exclusion of words (think Boolean AND, OR & NOT) and its not possible in MS (at least not that I have found). Add to that the speed of MS (which is tediously slow when keyword “baskets” get a few hundred words, and I think you can see why I use KRA Pro for filtering.

The Flash player is actually by screencast which hosts some of my videos. Look for screencast.com

  3. Yurium says:

May be this is problem with browser. MNF use windows IE engine.
I found you focus on keyword research in detail.
This is indeed the basis of the entire site and its future.
After several failures with the sites, I focus a lot on this.
MNF takes data from google, I just wanted to know how important the “exact search count” for competition analysis.
Google shows different figures for the first and last pages of results.
For the first page: Results 1 – 10 of about 179,000 for “microwave ovens countertop”. For the last page: Results 181 – 183 of 183 for “microwave ovens countertop”.
I saw that MS did not even show this option. Only top10 in analysis as West suggests.

    • Andy says:

Google does not include all pages in its main index. It will only include the ones it thinks are the most important. Everything else goes into the supplemental. The large figures you see are usually main index + supplemental pages, whereas if you scroll to the end of the actual main index, you’ll see how many pages are in the real index.

  4. Compiler says:

My tool of choice: Market Samurai. It has everything, it does everything.

  5. Claude says:

Hi Dr Andy, Always a pleasure to read your emails and must say I love using KRA Pro for my results. By the way what do u feel is better , should I get Word Tracker subscription or is Nichebot good enough. Can you let me know for my keyword research.

    • Andy says:

      Claude
Its a difficult decision and I suggest you try both tools with short subscriptions to decide which works the best for you. At the moment, I don’t have a “favorite”.

  6. Todd Wilson says:

I am a bit confused about the KRA Pro upgrade vs. free. You mention the ability to upgrade for $70 but then it will be taken down as soon as it is free. Am I missing something

    • Andy says:

Simple really. Those who paid for KRA can upgrade to KRA Pro for $70, but only until KRA becomes free, then they will not be able to upgrade.

  7. Hardy says:

    Hi Andy,

I’m wondering if you can use KRA Pro for John’s Adsense method.

Can you do a tutorial on it if it can?

    Thanks,

    Hardy
