EzSEO Newsletter # 268

In this issue:

1. Web Content Studio

2. Selling ice to Eskimos – Part II

Hi Again

Last week I told you about the floods here in Tenerife, and for those who are interested you can see some videos and photos of those floods on this Tenerife Guide site.? Its a site we started to develop some time ago, but it has pretty much been ignored over the years (other than the WordPress conversion I did on it earlier this year).? I think it might be nice to start adding content to the site on a more regular basis with current news, photos etc of Tenerife.

Today I’ve got a preview of Web Content Studio for those who are interested, plus the second part of my Ice to Eskimos series.

Let’s get on..

1. Web Content Studio
– — – — – — – — – — – — – — – — –

Web Content Studio is now in the hands of beta testers, so progress will hopefully be quite quick now as bugs come in and I sort them out.? There are some features that I need to finish, but overall the software is looking good.? I don’t want to put a date on its release yet as its too early to say, but it should be in the next few weeks.

As you will now if you have read the last few newsletters, this software will be released for 24 hours only, and only to those who READ my newsletter.? That means I will only be printing details of the release date and the URL for buying this in this newsletter.? If you miss it, you’ll miss the great deal I’ll be offering those early birds.

The software will eventually be released to a wider market, but the price will be higher, probably much higher.

If you are interested in this software, you need to read the next few issues of this newsletter, as I’ll be announcing the date in the newsletter giving you plenty of warning.? There is no notification list, or priority mailing list – this newsletter is it.

OK, with that said, I have the first video showing an overview of what Web Content Studio is all about.

2. Selling ice to Eskimos – Part II
– — – — – — – — – — – — – — – — –

Last week we looked at the fact that not all traffic is equal.

I had intended to start looking at how we can find the buyer phrases today, but I think after some of the feedback I have had, I need to go back one step and discuss the conversion forumla and how various parts are inter-linked.? It is actually vital to understand this because any weak link in your plan will result in poor sales.? Once you understand the formula, you can start planning a multi-pronged attack on your next product page.

Let’s just recap on what we talked about last week.

If you are selling diabetic foot cream, but someone finds your page by typing in “diabetes treatment”, they are not going to be targeted visitors, and will therefore not be buying your cream no matter how well you pre-sell the cream as the answer to diabetic foot problems.

On the other hand, if someone finds the page by typing in “dry foot diabetic cream”, they are much more likely to buy your product.

Your job as an Affiliate marketer is to try to bring targeted visitors to pages that pre-sell the click to your merchant.

The Conversion Formula

You can think of your potential income from a page as:

conversionformula

Some factors are largely beyond your control, namely the merchants website, but if we think of conversion rate as the rate of converting your visitors into buyers, then that takes into account the merchant conversion rate, but we should still have that at the back of our mind.

Let’s add in some figures here to see how this equation works out.

Let’s suppose that our current page has the following stats:

number of visitors per day = 50
your conversion rate (clickthrough to the merchant) = 0.5% (that’s 1 in 200 visitors buy)
Commission value = $10

Adding this into the equation, your commissions per day would be:

low-conversion

So how can we increase our income on this page?

There are several ways but they boil down to increasing the conversion rate.? To do that, we can:

* Increase the number of TARGETED visitors, ie visitors that are actually looking to buy what we offer.
* Increase the conversion of our own sales page so that we get more clicks through to the merchant.
* Finally we could find a product that has a higher commission.
* Find a merchant that is better at converting the traffic we send.

The last two points are obviously linked because its the merchant that pays the commission.? We won’t consider those points in this series.

The first two points are also linked because if we can increased how targeted the visitors are, we are increasing the likelihood that they are potential buyers, therefore our page should convert higher as well.

Let’s look at the equations with some new figures.

In the original equation, things were not going well.? We were only converting 1 in 200 visitors into buyers.? This could be for any of the reasons mentioned above.

If you had 50 highly targeted visitors to a page, that same page might convert at 2%.? Then our figures look like this:

50 x 2% x $10 = $10 a day.

By increasing the conversion rate by 4, we are increasing income by 4.

How else could we increase the daily profits from this page?

Well, we could make the page better at pre-selling the product.? If we could write better pre-sell copy, we could increase the conversion rate further.

If we could boost the conversion rate to 4% (that’s 4 out of every 100 visitors buy), then you’ll be making $20 per day.

4percentconversion

That sounds a lot better, but that’s only the begriming of the maths.? Instead of 50 visitors a day, what if you could double your traffic?? That would take you up to $40 a day for that page.? If you had 10 pages offering different products but all converting at a similar rate, the numbers soon add up to a healthy income from that website.

Hopefully by using this example you can see that there are a number of factors you need to get right, and that they are all linked.? Get one factor wrong, and you can kiss goodbye to the commissions.

e.g.

* Increasing traffic without increasing how targeted that traffic is, wont increase conversion rate.

* Create a poor landing page, and traffic will hit the back button.

* Promote a merchant that doesn’t convert and you’ll be waiting and waiting and waiting in vain.

Look what happens if conversion rate (or any other part of the equation) falls to zero:

zeroconversionrate

The above might look extreme, but if any part of the equation falls to zero, you don?t make anything.

Alternatively, doubling traffic or conversion rate will double income from this page.? If you double conversion rate and traffic, you?ll potentially increase income by 4.? Hopefully you can now see the importance in knowing how the various factors affect your income.

In order to increase your conversion rates, you need to:

1. Find out what products people want to buy in your niche and identify merchants that are good at selling that product.
2. Find out what keywords they are using to search for those products.
3. Create content that will be found for those keywords, and create quality pre-sell that will convince those visitors to click through to your affiliate merchants.

In the next few issues of this newsletter, we’ll look at these three steps.

Well, that’s it for this issue.? If you want to read the recent issues of this newsletter, you can read them online at my blog:

    Hi Andy,

Really like what I saw of Web Content Studio. I saw in the video that there was a research Tab. What exactly does that do? It would be really nice if it had the features of Johnathan Ledger’s Instant Article Wizard Pro (which is a monthly pay for service)where you could input the theme keyword phrase, as found by Web Content Studio, and it would then fetch related content from various sources. We could then re-write that content and then use Web Content Studio to check the re-written aticle against the theme words that it had found.

Maybe you have already thought of that. You usually do. Can’t wait for the release. Don’t make it the 7th, 8th, 9th December as I back in the UK and can’t purchase.

Thanks as always for your great work.

    Peter

    • Andy says:

No it wont be like Jonathan’s software. I have tried it before (the subscription one) and always found it to be quite poor. If it creates an article that you need to re-write, why not just grab an article from ezine articles and re-write it? As for researching a topic, it is also limited. Google and other research sites are a much better source for researching “fat” content.

  2. Henri says:

Good stuff as always! I’m looking forward to Web Content Studio. I’ve always been lazy with my theme words. Still get my pages ranked very well but I think it would be a lot easier with theme words. I also write tons of articles for Ezinearticles so it will help there a lot too.

Any estimates on when it’ll be out? 1 week? 1 month?

    Cheers ;)

  3. Hugh says:

    Hey Andy

Great info on the “Ice to eskimos.” Eagerly awaiting the release of Web Content Studio.

    Cheers,

    Hugh.

  4. Henri says:

I forgot to ask. I am a bit confused when it comes to KRA Pro, Web Content Studio and Niche Blueprints V3. If I buy a niche blueprint, do I get KRA pro or just the free version? What about KRA Pro vs. Web Studio, what is the difference?

  5. David says:

For those of us who use Market Samuri – why would we need WCS? Wouldn’t the same thing be accomplished by taking KW research from MS – go to article directories – grab articles – then rewrite?

Just trying to see why I need another tool.

  6. Tony says:

Hi Andy (and David from above comment)

I was hoping Fat Content Creator would be able to do what you have shown in the video today. I knew it also took KRA Pro to acheive it really and unfortunately I couldn’t afford that at the time. Now they are combined in WCS (almost) it will be a great tool for those who really want to go to the trouble of getting articles really google friendly.

At the moment I use Market Samurai to identify the top ten sites then SEO Book to grab the words and phrases used. They then need to be sorted in a spreadsheet to find out the most used and the most relevant. WCS will do all that for me and about 2 hours faster.

I did wonder that if anyone who does not use already FCC totally understands what is going on in your video Andy. I’m pretty sure that David with his query regarding Market Samuari is not fully understanding what is going on otherwise he would know that although MS can find the top ten Google sites, it doesn’t scrape the keywords and give them to you in a list. Nor does it give you a rating in regard to your articles, or existing articles, relevant to how Google likes to see them to rate them highly.

So David, yes you do need MS and WCS to write or rewrite really effective aricles, blog posts and any other Google rateworthy content.

Hope the price is not going to be too prohibitive for me this time Andy.

    Thanks

    Tony

  7. Pete says:

    Greetings Andy,
How dose WCS write articles after generating the theme KWs?

    • Andy says:

WCS doesn’t write articles, you do. This is not an article generator. If you want spammy content, there are plenty of those already available on the market.

  8. Alan says:

    Hi Andy,

    You wrote…

    >If you are interested in this software, you need to read the next few
    >issues of this newsletter, as I?ll be announcing the date in the
    >newsletter giving you plenty of warning

Did you take into account your customers who, like you, live abroad and will travel during december and/or january to visit family and friends and won’t or won’t be able to access, easily or not at all, the Internet during that period ?

FYI, I’ll be away from 21/12 to 08/01, no Internet.

    • Andy says:

Yes i have Alan. When I send out the notification of date, I’ll allow people who feel unable to purchase on that date to contact me via my support desk with an alternative date for their purchase.

  9. Owen says:

Is there an instruction manual that comes with it? I’m a slow learner and would like to know all the features. Just a question. If you have the keyword you want to write about, why can’t you grab the theme words of the top ten sites and use those theme words and write the article? Why do you need that first step of selecting your own theme words?

  10. Luke says:

Hmm, themeing. I honestly cannot tell if this concept is really worth my time in my ranking efforts. I’ve spent the last few years grasping link building instead. Yes it working OK for me.

I tend to go for “short tail” phrases in my business though. I can’t imagine theming would ever get anyone to #10 for these sorts of phrases, where competitors are heavily link building.

I do pay attention to writing good, well researched content.

Thinking out loud here: Perhaps if I was stuck at #5 after link building for a few months, then yes, this themeing could be the thing that takes me the last 4 places.

I don’t know for sure though; my first reaction would be to link build more..

  11. Joanna says:

    Andy,

As I understand it, WCS finds keyword rich content on the Web to enable you to rewrite it and serve it up again. Is it not better to write your own unique original content rather than produce a rehash even if it contains highly targeted keywords? I’m not sure about WCS….

    • Andy says:

No, you have the wrong idea of WCS. It may be my fault for using an ezinearticles article as an example. WCS is to help YOU write quality content, not to find it on the web. I’ll try to provide more details in my next newsletter.

  12. Wayne says:

Andy, I just bought the KRAPro and the Fat Content course and software. My question is, is this an overlap and should I just stick with what I have? Quite truthfully, I don’t really want to invest in another piece of software as it looks like this does the trick, though I’m still trying to figure out how to import data from keyword elite.

    • Andy says:

I am not sure I understand your question. Overlap where? KRA Pro compliments the Fat COntent course, and together they provide the necessary tools for creating the type of content search engines like – high quality and themed.

  13. David says:

Tony – Thanks, your post was very helpful. Frankly, it seems that I don’t have time to understand everything. You laid it out nice and simple.

I’m a Mac user so I avoid or really scrutinize the need for anything Windows. Regarding articles – KW’s – SEO traffic ect, I’m almost at the point where I’m ready to say “the hell with all of it” and just buy image ad traffic > squeeze page. Not caring what G does – be it quality scores or algo changes has a growing appeal.

  14. Pete says:

    Hi Andy,
    I own KRA Pro.
KRA Pro produces 1,2,3, phrase themed KWs from the top ten sites.
    WCS produces the same?

  15. Pete says:

    Another question please.
Dose KRA PRO uses the same data as Google external tool?

  16. Pete says:

If KRA Pro uses the same data as Google external tool then why not use the free Google tool?

  17. Pete says:

Following up of my previous Q,
KRA collects themed KWs from the top ten sites on the first page.
Dose it also collect additional LSI or Themed KWs from google data?

When I do a KW search on Google External tool, I get “grouped categories” and their respective KWs and other related KWs.
If KRA is getting additional Themed KWs from the same data source, what is the difference?
Hope this clear up my previous Q :-)
