Hi
Forgive any gammatical errors today but my daughter is crying and needs a feed. We are off out immediatley afterwards and I want to get this newsletter out before we go, so I have not had time to re-read it. Thank goodness for spell checkers – at least my spelling should be OK.
This week:
1. How is RSS doing on my site?
2. Revenge is sweet!
3. Tara Reid revisited & other stuff
4. Wordtracker Part VI
5. Questions from readers

1. How is RSS doing on my site?
—————————————————
As you know, two weeks ago I recommended RSS Made Easy by Adrian Ling. By following the information in the book I added RSS feeds to the homepage of my site at:
I checked this morning to see how many pages were indexed on that site at the main search engines. The site is only 12 pages in size. Here are the results:
google.com 12
search.yahoo.com 10
affiliate-minder.com search.msn.com 4
affiliate-minder.com www.alltheweb.com 9
affiliate-minder.com www.altavista.com 6
Now I cannot guarantee that the pages were indexed just because of RSS – I may have just been lucky this week (I have had a devil of a time to get pages into Google from smaller sites, and even harder keeping them there). However, one thing I can say is that search engine spiders are in some cases, coming back daily (as reported by the free script that comes in Adrian’s RSS package).
I wanted to do a bigger test, on a bigger site. I added RSS to quite a few pages at a site my wife runs. I also setup a Blog to “promote” the site as Adrian describes in his book. The site is fairly new and I was struggling to get it indexed in Yahoo and MSN. Google was up to its usual tricks and only indexing about 10 of the 200+ pages.
This week I have seen significant increases in traffic, so I checked how many pages were indexed in the main search engines. Here is where it stands this morning:
google.com 165
search.yahoo.com 198
search.msn.com 58
www.alltheweb.com 212
www.altavista.com 204
Again, this might be luck. After all, Google recently doubled the number of pages in its index. However, the evidence is quite compelling. I am certainly going to be doing a little more testing on some of my other sites. This RSS stuff is quite exciting.
You can read my review at:
RSS Made Easy Review
NOTE: I talked to Adrian this morning while writing this newsletter, and his book is selling really well. The price was slashed to $39.97 for its big release, but Adrian has now decided it is time to put up the price (the books price was originally set at $67). He told me that the price will go up on December 1st to $47. If you have not yet bought Adrian’s book and you want to learn how to benefit from RSS, this week is your last chance to get it at the reduced “launch price”.

2. Revenge is sweet!
—————————————————
No, nothing to do with the guy who reported my newsletter for spam as mentioned in last weeks newsletter ;o)
This week, Michael Campbell & Leslie Rohde have released the long awaited upgrade to the Revenge of the Mininet / Dynamic linking package. Michael announced it in his excellent newsletter on the 18th November.
So what is new?
Michael includes all of the old successful mininets in this book and adds a new one he calls the Matrix. This new one looks great and one that I will definitely test out in the weeks to come. If it works as well as my personal favourite – the Butterfly, it will be very powerful indeed.
What about dynamic linking? Leslie Rohde is the genius link guru who created Optilink
and now a new tool called Optispider
I cannot do either of these tools justice here (maybe I will run a mini-series on the use of these tools?). You can see demos and videos of these tools in action at the links above. I will hopefully get reviews of both these tools written and posted on my site very soon
In Revenge 3, you still get the original eBook on Dynamic linking, but in addition, Leslie has opened a members only Dynamic Linking site open to those who have purchased the Revenge package. This site contains all of the latest information on dynamic linking, what works, and what doesn’t. In addition, Leslie provides mathematical proof that the Mininet model really does work. I recommended this package when it first came out, it is even better now.
Mininets work, no doubt about that. They might be a little more technical to set up, but for those prepared to invest a little time into studying the Mininet models and working at them, Revenge really is sweet.

3. Tara Reid revisited & other stuff
—————————————————
Well, now I know who Tara Reid is
) Those who missed last weeks newsletter may not be aware that this young lady was the most searched for topic in the World last week.
Just for fun I ran Tara Reid on the Wordtracker Comprehensive Search this morning. Wordtracker easily found 500 phrases (the maximum number this search returns) relating to Tara Reid, and I have no doubt that if I ran a more in depth search on this lady, I could double that number of phrases!
After writing last weeks newsletter, I added a new feature to KRA-WT. You can now copy and paste in the long-term and short-term top 1000 reports from Wordtracker and get a report of only the “surge” topics – i.e. searches that have been made in the last 3 days that are not the usual, run of the mill searches – these are the current HOT TOPICS.
KRA-WT owners can get the update from the updates page (accessed via the help menu). I ran this Spike report this morning and see that Tara is no longer a surge topic, she has had enough searches in the last week to put her into Wordtracker’s long-term report. What this means now is that Tara has become the 68th and 305th most searched for topic in the last 3 months. Wow, this girl is popular, and looking at some of the links I was sent after last weeks newsletter, I can see why ;o)
Today, Nicolette Sheridan is at the top of this surge report, being the 3rd most popular search in the last 3 days. I know of Nicolette, but don’t know why she has made it into the limelight. Anyone send me a URL?
Here are todays top 10 hot topics out of 212 identified in the Spike Report:
3 nicolette sheridan 3868
5 sharon reed 3158
9 david lee roth 2422
21 polar express 1576
23 terrell owens 1553
26 nicollette sheridan 1459
47 full metal jacket 1030
53 vincent d’onofrio 947
55 condoleezza rice 904
59 margaret hassan 866
76 vibe awards 755
100 monday night football 638
146 desperate housewives 510
162 gary sheffield 481
171 bcs rankings 466
177 ap poll 460
182 turkey 454
183 colin powell 453
206 sharon reed nude 421
213 susan selles 410
Seems to me that if you have a poster site, you could profit quickly by monitoring this report. Especially if you have a site that is indexed daily by the “Big 3″ and new pages included in 24-48 hours. Now that is an idea!
This week I got an e-mail from a subscriber – Tiit Raag who runs a site at:
He told me about a great misspelling tool that is f.r.e.e. and produces more variations than the tool I told you about a couple of weeks ago. Here is the URL:
http://www.missedkey.com/typos.cgi
Incidentally, Tiit also wrote this:
“It looks like Yahoo isn’t picking up .info domains right now. There were great free .info domain offers some time ago but after building and getting 3 .info sites into Google, no pages are in Yahoo. Spider comes…sniffs 1-3 pages and goes away. Two more people (in the membership group I belong to) have reported the same results… Have you experienced something similar? ”
Well, I don’t have any .info domains so I cannot comment. I wondered whether anyone reading this newsletter may have experiences similar to this? Let me know.

4. Wordtracker Part VI
—————————————————
Today I want to briefly tell you about the way I use Wordtracker’s “5. Multiple Search” feature to find keywords.
Login to Wordtracker, and the main menu comes up. See the Multiple Search section?
As with anything on Wordtracker, you can do the same research many ways, however, the nice thing about this type of search is that you don’t have to go in and create a project to hold keywords.
Where I find this extremely useful is if I want to write a review and promote a new product. I can go into Wordtracker, use the multiple search feature, and come away with up to 500 phrases I can use related to the product.
Let’s take a specific example. Suppose I have a poster site like the one I mentioned above. I notice that Nicolette Sheridan is hot this week (excuse the pun) – she is 3rd and 26th in the surge report mentioned above, and I want to promote some Nicoletter Sheridan posters on my poster site to make some sales while there is public interest.
Click on the Comprehensive search link.
Now, from the surge report, we can see that Nicolette makes it into the top 20 twice:
3 nicolette sheridan 3868
26 nicollette sheridan 1459
The only difference here is the spelling of her first name, so we want to make sure we capture visitors for both spellings.
Type
nicolette sheridan
nicollette sheridan
into the box, and select 500 from the drop down box.
Wordtracker find 500 phrases relating to “Nicolette Sheridan”. We only need a few to make a successful page, but without finding competition for these phrases
Scroll to the bottom of this page and click on the “Perform Competition Search”.
Wordtracker only allows us to do a competition search for 100 phrases at a time, so this will get a little ugly.
On the next screen, select Google, and click on the “Proceed” button.
Wordtracker goes away and sees how much competition there is for the first 100 phrases. When it is complete, scroll to the bottom of the list and click on the “Email Current Results” link.
Send the results to your e-mail address.
Now the ugly bit. Click the back button on your browser TWICE to go back to the original list of 500 phrases. Now you need to deselect the top 100 results. Click the first item in the list and then press the SPACEBAR to deselect, TAB to go to the next item, Spacebar etc. Repeat as you count 100. This deselects the top 100 items.
Those of you who have read this newsletter long enough know I use a Macro program to automatically deselect 100 items at a time. You can get a f.r.e.e. trial of this macro software at:
Once you have deselected 100, do the competition search again. Send the results to your e-mail address.
Repeat this until you have found the competition for all 500 phrases and sent those results to yourself.
Once you have all 5 e-mails, you can import the results into your spreadsheet program and decide on the phrases to use on your page. As you know, I use KRA-WT for this purpose:
Using KRA-WT I can see that there are:
12 phrases relating to Nicolette Sheridan that have less than 10 competing pages in Google, and a minimum of 5 searches per day at Google. These phrases are easy targets for top rankings and combined would achieve over 140 visitors per day from Google. A lot of the 12 phrases differ only in the spelling of Nicolette, so it would be easy to create a single page optimized for all these phrases, and with so little competition in Google (9 of these phrases have 1 or 0 competing pages in Google), you could expect top rankings for all terms. For me, that is easy traffic for a couple hours work.
Find the right Nicolette Sheridan products to promote and it would be easy money.
Looking around various merchants, I see that Tara Reid has a lot more potential, so repeating the above procedure for Tara Reid could prove very profitable.

5. Questions from readers
—————————————————
I decided to share a few e-mails I received this week because they are common questions to common issues we all face.
***** E-mail 1 *****
“Hi Andy,
Hope you’re getting some sleep now.
You certainly have the best newsletter. Great info.
I was wondering which you recommend:
Adwords Analyzer, Keywords Analyzer, Niche Keyword Analyzer or Niche Finder Software?
Basically, I want the most bang for my buck.
I want a one-time fee program (ie not Wordtracker) that I can use to do all of my keyword research for PPC and SEO stuff.”
********************
and my reply:
“For free search engine listings there is only one choice – Wordtracker. You can get it for $8 a day so it would take a lot of uses at this rate to cost the same as one of the other programs you mention. Add KRA-WT to that and you have the most powerful keyword research tool.
The problem with the others is that they get number of searches data from Overture and that data is inflated to make Overture make more money. You cannot rely on it.
If I had to go for one of these tools you mention, I would go with Goran Nagy’s Keyword Analyzer. It is the best for PPC stuff, but you will find that none of those tools provide accurate info for number of searches, only Wordtracker will do that.
Remember that with a one day subscription to Wordtracker you can get enough keywords to keep you busy for months. Months of keywords for $8, that is not bad value.”
***** E-mail 2 *****
I have site which is in a very competitive area. I would like to know what I would have to do to get decent rankings. I read your link campaign article, and it said 30 quality links would be good. Obviously this wouldn’t apply to this area. Would I need thousands of links? What kinds of things should I do? I am willing to put in tonnes of hours and am content not seeing results for 6 months etc.
********************
My reply to this e-mail relates to any site you build. Follow this advice and you will rank well. If you think it is too much work to follow this advice, consider another topic for your site!
“Put simply, have a look what your competitors have in terms of backlinks and Page Rank then duplicate that.
This is not 100% accurate, but I could write a book on how to analyze these links properly (looking at the quality of the inbound links) to decide how many links you actually need.
Optilink is the very best tool for analyzing the quality of the links your competitors have, and making an accurate estimate of how many links you really need.
For analyzing your on-site link structure, there is no better tool available than Leslie Rohde’s OptiSpider:
Remember that with any niche topic, there will always be untapped keyword phrases you can target (for proof of this, read recent newsletters where I find keywords in competitive areas), get good rankings and profit from. Think outside the box, and don’t always follow the crowd.”
OK, that’s it for another week. I hope you have enjoyed this issue as much as I have writing it. Please, if you know someone who may benefit from the information in this newsletter, send them an e-mail and point them to my signup page:
Have a great week!

I visited http://feedreader.com/ as you suggested
and couldn’t find any download link. Even their donate
link says “cannot accept money now”. It is one of the
most frustrating site I ever visited.
Hi Yaho,
At feadreader.com there?s a link right on top on the right side: “download the latest version”.
You?ll be taken to a page where the current and all other previous versions of feedreader are listed.
Click on the link to the setup-file “FeedReader27-646Setup.exe” and you?ll taken to another page where
you can select the mirror (location) from where you want to download it. Don?t click on the website?s banner,
but on the little icon near the file size (on the right side) …
… or to make things short:
This is a download mirror in NY.
If this source is overloaded at the time you try the download, you can also try other
download sources like these:
Bern – Switzerland
Atlanta – USA
Hope this helps !
Cheers,
Guido
