Long Tail Pro 3 Review 3

I’ve been testing out Long Tail Pro v3 this week, and found it to be very useful, even if it does seem to have a few bugs in the current version.  The value in Long Tail Pro 3 is not so much the fetching of the keywords (Google Keyword Planner can do that), but in the way you can use Long Tail Pro to analyze the keywords to decide how easy they would be to rank for in Google.

Note that when you first start using this tool, you will need to enter in a Google account which is used for collecting keywords.  If you don't currently have a Google keyword planner account, please watch the video I recorded showing how to set up a Google Keyword Planner account without needing to create an Adwords campaign.

In the following video, I show how to use Long Tail Pro 3 (and the differences between the Pro and Platinum versions) to evaluate some keywords for a niche web site of mine.

In the video, you saw me evaluate a keyword phrase by looking at the top 10 results in Google.  You do this in Long Tail Pro by clicking a keyword phrase.  Here is a table for one of my keyword phrases.  Can you spot the opportunities in the top 10 (i.e. those results you could relatively easily replace?).

Would you choose to create a page for this keyword phrase?  At the bottom of the table, there is an “Averages” row so you can see the average of each data point for the keyword.  I don't always like to look at this myself, as I prefer to find keywords where 3 or 4 of the top 10 are opportunities to replace with my own page.  Averages can be misleading…  What are your thoughts? Hi Andy,
do you think its better than Market Samurai? Long Tail pro looks to be easier to use. I really like the way it puts everything on one page and shows what you need to do to rank for that phrase.

I stopped using Market Samurai a long time ago. Became way too slow to use and also switched to using Bing data. I prefer Long Tail Pro personally as it is more intuitive and the top 10 research for a phrase is really useful.
