Question:  Bold Text

 

Does bold text help increase rank in places OTHER than the headline for example in a text link?

 

I dont recommend using bold in a headline now.  I would only recommend using bold in the main text of the page and only if it looks right to human visitors.  Over-use of bold could get you penalized if it is just your main keyword phrase that is bolded on the page.  I would recommend that if you use bold, use it ONCE near the top of the page, in normal page text (i.e. not a headline).  Bold text has helped with rankings in the past, but as with anything that works, it gets abused by SEOs and webmasters looking for better rankings.  I dont think that it has much effect these days and certainly in the future I doubt it will help at all.
